Holy Land Cairo and Petra

Join us on an amazing 12-day tour to the Holy Land, Cairo and Petra. Visit the ancient Petra, admire the Kings Pyramids and the iconic Sphinx. Walk where Jesus walked and visit the sites where the Lord performed miracles. Get spiritually elevated while walking in the alleys of the Holy City, along the Via Dolorosa. In this trip the Bible will come alive while visiting Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Capernaum, Nazareth, Cana and many other Biblical Sites.

DAY 01

We depart North America on our overnight flight to Cairo. Dinner and breakfast will be served aloft.

CAIRO

DAY O2

Upon our arrival at the Cairo airport, we will be met by Lionsgate representatives who will assist us to our waiting bus for a short transfer to our hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

CAiro

DAy 03

After a late breakfast we begin our tour of Cairo. We begin with the Giza Pyramids. Admire the three vast pyramids of the kings and the several smaller pyramids that were tombs of the queens: As you stroll the sands you will encouter the Valley Temple and the iconic Sphinx.Tour of the Egyptian Antiquities Museum, home to one of the world’s largest collections of ancient Egyptian artifacts. Marvel at the treasures of King Tutankhamen, including his golden death mask, rich jewelry, and even his sandals! Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAy 04

After breakfast we begin our tour with a visit to the Coptic Christian Hanging Church. One of Egypt’s most famous church- es, it was built in Basilican design above the southern gate of the Roman Babylon Fortress thus making it suspended. Visit the Ben Ezra Synagogue. The Synagogue of Ben Ezra in Cairo was origi- nally named El-Shamieen Church, and is situated today behind the “Hanging church”. Finally we end the day at the famous Khan al-Khalili bazaar haggling for souvenirs and experiencing first hand the culture of Egyptians in their daily lives. We end the day with a Dinner Cruise on the Nile River.

SINAI/BORDER CROSSING

Day 05

Today we journey across the Sinai Desert. The long drive takes us through miles of yellow sand tracing the route of the Israelites as they made their way out of Egypt. Upon reaching the Taba border we will be met and transferred again to cross into Jordan. We will spend the evening at the Jordanian Resort town of Aqaba. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.

PETRA

DAy 06

After breakfast drive to Petra; established around the 6th cen- tury BC, by the Nabataean Arabs, a nomadic tribe who settled in the area and laid the foundations of a commercial empire that extended into Syria. Despite successive attempts by the Seleucid King Antigonus, the Roman Emperor Pompey and Herod the Great to bring Petra under the control of their respective empires, Petra remained largely in Nabataean hands until around 100 AD, when the Romans took over. The reddish-yellow stone which the Nabataeans exploited to carve their temples is delicate and can be easily crumbled into sand, but Petra remains a testament to their strength and ingenuity. Dinner and overnight, Amman.

BEIT SHEAN/MEGIDDO/NAZARETH

Day 07

This morning we transfer to the Israeli border. Upon entrance into Israel we will be met by our tour guide. As we make our way to the Galilee region we stop at Beit Shean to see the most recent excavations from the Roman era. We continue to Megiddo and the Fields of Armagedon, the site of the last battle. Continue to Nazareth to visit the Church of Annunciation and Mary’s Well and to Cana the place of the first miracle. We end the day in Tibe- rias. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.

CAPERNAUM/MT OF BEATITUDES/GALILLEE

Day 08

There is nothing quite like witnessing a sunrise on the Sea of Galilee. Although there are many places which we must admit are traditional, you can be sure that the Lord Jesus walked down these shores. After a sunrise service and breakfast, we cross the Sea of Galilee by boat to Capernaum to visit the ancient ruins of the synagogue where Jesus preached. We continue to the Mt. of Beatitudes the traditional site for the “Sermon on the Mount” and to Tabgha - the chapel dedicated to the multiplication of the loaves and fishes. Drives to Caesarea Philippi the site of Peter’s confession; continue to Mt. Hermon and Golan Heights where Israel shares a border with Lebanon and Syria. Continue the day with a visit to Nazareth and Cana. Visit the Church of Annunciation. We end the day at the Jordan River where a Baptismal is optional. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

CARMEL/JERICHO/BETHLEHEM

Day 09

After breakfast we drive to the crest of Mt. Carmel - where Elijah’s contest with the prophets of Baal. We continue with a visit to Jericho, where the “walls came tumbling down”. See the Mt of Temptations and Elisha’s Fountain before we head to Bethlehem. We visit the Church of the Nativity, the birthplace of Jesus, Shepherds Fields and the Field of Boaz and Ruth. As we drive through the Judean country our hearts are filled with elation in anticipation of entering Jerusalem. We transfer to our hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Jerusalem

Day 10

Today begins with a walking tour of the Old City of Jerusalem. We begin at the Western Wall where Jews flock from around the world to pray. We continue to the Temple Area of Mt. Moriah. See the El Aksa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock built on the ancient site of Solomon’s Temple. Walk along Hosanna Road to the Garden of Gethsemane to visit the Church of All Nations that stands on the Rock of Agony where Jesus was betrayed by Judas. Walk along the Via Dolorosa to Pilate’s Judgment Hall, the Cha- pel of the Flagellation, the Ecce Homo Arch where Jesus was tried before Pilate. We then walk through the Old City bazaars to the Church of the Holy Seplecher. Visit the Upper Room and King David’s Tomb. End the day at Golgotha for a prayer service. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight,

MASADA /QUMRAN

Day 11

Today we head further south 1300ft under sea level to the Dead Sea. A beautiful new road takes us south along the shores of the Dead Sea to Masada. Ascend the mountain by cable car and see the magnificent ruins of the fortress where from 70- 73 A.D Jewish zealots made the last stand against Romans. Return along the Dead Sea to Qumran the place where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Visit the remains of the Community Center of the Essenes and the Caves of the Scrolls. Visit Ein Gedi and take the opportunity to dip inside the salty waters of the Dead Sea before returning to Jerusalem for dinner and an overnight stay.

RETURN HOME

Day 11

We depart early to the airport for our flight home filled with amazing memories from the land of the Bible.
