FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHEN AND HOW ARE DEPOSITS PAID?
Deposits can be made out to the Tour Host. All deposits should be sent along with registration form.
WHEN IS FULL PAYMENT DUE?
Final payment is due in our offices a minimum of ninety days prior to departure. Please submit final payment made to your tour host.
WILL TOUR PRICES EVER BE RAISED AFTER I HAVE BOOKED A TOUR?
The answer to that is a confident NO. We calculate the tour prices based on time of travel, airfare, number of passengers, duration and type of accommodations. There is one variable that remains uncertain, namely FUEL SURCHARGES. I am certain you have heard this term in the news, from the airlines and if you have traveled of late. Air flight tickets are made up of many costs, and taxes. Most of which are regulated and guaranteed. However, with rising fuel cost surcharges that are associated with the cost of fuel are determined only at time of ticketing and not at the time of reservations. Since most groups ticketing happens only a month or two prior to departure date, this surcharge may come up much after the cost of the tour has been determined. The good news is that most times this has no effect and no surcharges are levied; or at the most, the extra tax is no more than $100 per ticket. All in all, this should not be a main concern, even today with the cost of fuel being so ambiguous.
DOES IT COST MORE IF A PASSENGER REQUESTS A SINGLE ROOM?
Yes. Single room supplement will be required for those who do not desire, or could find a roommate. When a group member wishes not to pay the Single Room Supplement but cannot find a roommate, we can suggest a Triple Room. This type of room is generally larger in size and accommodates three persons, to avoid extra payment.
DO AIRPORT TAXES HAVE TO BE PREPAID?
Yes. This assures you and your passengers’ faster check-in at airports and prevents inconvenience.
ARE THERE REDUCED RATES FOR CHILDREN?
Some fares have a certain percent reduction for children between the age of two and up to the age of eleven by the date of departure. A child must leave and return prior to his twelfth birthday to qualify. However, not all fares have this provision. It is important that you check with Lions Gate Travel.
WILL THE TOUR DEPARTURE BE AFFECTED IN THE EVENT THAT OUR TOUR DOES NOT REACH THE REQUIRED MINIMUM NUMBER OF PASSENGERS TO QUALIFY FOR GROUP RATES?
This can happen. Lions Gate Travel reserves the right to consolidate smaller groups of same interests whenever the original departure dates for each group fall within a week of one another. Thus you could reasonably expect no more than a one-week adjustment in your schedule if such a problem arose. No changes will be made without discussion and agreement on both sides.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ASSIGNED TO EACH BUS?
It depends on the country you are visiting. In Israel transportation is as follows: 7 seater limousine; 10 seater; 19 seater; 30 seater; 53 seater motor coaches. The buses in Jordan are 30 and 47 seater, the Egyptian buses are 10 to 53 seater similar to Israel’s. In Italy and Greece the maximum seating is 45. In Europe there are double decker available that can seat as many as 61 and in some cases up to 70 passengers. Larger buses can not get into the tight streets for close in sightseeing and in some cases you may have to walk up stairs in order to reach areas that you may have reached with a standard motor coach. We normally place up to 48 persons in a motor coach unless you decide otherwise..
WHAT TYPE OF ACCOMMODATIONS CAN I EXPECT ABROAD?
LionsGate offers modern first class and superior first class hotels. Specific hotels and class of hotels may be requested. The higher the class of hotels reserved the more costly the tour. In the Middle East we use first class, superior first class, and deluxe hotels. In Europe our selected hotels are superior tourist class, minimum first class, or better hotels.
WHAT TYPE OF TRANSPORTATION CAN I EXPECT ABROAD?
Lions Gate guarantees the use of deluxe, air controlled motor coaches for all your transportation needs abroad. We use accredited companies who own and operate new and well kept vehicles in Europe as well as the Middle East. Each group will be reserved a tour bus appropriate for its size.
HOW CAN I BE SURE THAT I HAVE THE RIGHT TOUR GUIDE FOR MY GROUP’S INTEREST?
If you know of a particular tour guide that you want to guide the tour, Lions Gate will do its very best to hire him. Otherwise, we work with a very large pool from which to choose. Our guides are government licensed/experienced and well versed in theology, geography, history and archeology. They are English and/or Spanish speaking. We will discuss your needs and phone/email interview is always possible. I can honestly say, we have never used a guide that a group did not simply adore.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN AN “OPTION,” “EXTENSION,” AND A “DEVIATION”?
An option is the opportunity to have additional sightseeing when you have leisure time. Options may be purchased by the group members during the tour. This will be coordinated by the Tour Host and guide upon the Tour Host and group’s wishes.
An extension is an addition to your basic tour. For example if your tour is a 15 day tour you may add an additional 7 days to touring provided you have a minimum of 15 passengers traveling together in a predetermined itinerary. All extensions must be prepaid prior to departure.
A deviation from tour occurs when a passenger requests: (1) to leave the tour within its progress, or (2) to be ticketed as an individual (e.g. earlier or later return, not with the group).
WHAT IS THE LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE?
For economy or tourist class, the international luggage allowance is 50 lbs. per person. This includes hand luggage. LionsGate Travel is not responsible for luggage fees beyond the maximum allowed by the airline. Carriers may vary in their conditions. Expect stricter codes among European carriers. This often becomes an issue with passengers and should be considered and discussed. Often passengers tend to over pack and carry with them very large suitcases. This becomes a problem through out the tour and affects everyone. For example, if you have 15 passengers on a tour, you will be provided a mini bus that seats 18. Mini buses cannot take huge loads, and anything that does not fit under will have to come up to the bus in the seating area. No one wants to travel uncomfortably. Also, huge suitcases make it very difficult to load and unload, and of course take more time. I urge you to make luggage restrictions clear and enforce them. This will make everyone’s tour much more enjoyable, and will avoid many problems en route.
ARE SERVICE CHARGES, LOCAL TAXES, AND TIPS INCLUDED?
Our tours include all taxes and tipping. Unless this has been arranged differently, all price quotes will include Tips and Taxes.

Travelers should allow at least 6 weeks to receive their passport. In case of immediacy, passengers may be able to obtain their passport with in 10 days for an additional fee. WHO SECURES VISAS WHEN NEEDED?
